WildChild Arts

WildChild is an arts organisation dedicated to creating social mobility through the arts. Co-founded by Oliver Lansley and myself. ALL courses are free.

Patrons: Paapa Essiedu, Suranne Jones, Lucian Msamati.

Write Wild

We piloted this scheme in 2020 - 2021 led by Oliver Lansley, which saw six writers from unrepresented backgrounds receiving coaching, feedback, pitching opportunities, drafting sessions, R&D and a professional showcase. Each writer is mentored by an industry professional, given a laptop for their work (if needed), supplied with a Scrivener license, work with professional directors and actors across TV and theatre and spend the year with WildChild (then become part of our family). The 2021 cohort saw writers finding representation at Curtis Brown, being optioned by major TV production companies and selected by BFI, CBBC, Lucky 17 to take on residencies and partnerships.

This course was mostly pro-bono with some ACE funding and donations. We open applications for Write Wild 2022 in Feb 2022.

2020 - 2021:

Hai Le, Chantelle Dusette, Ciaran Fitzgerald, Tabby Lamb, Julie Tsang, Florence Eseaut-Nickless

2022 - 2023

Liv Woodward, Beth Westbrook, Alice Lazar, Sebastian Rex, YV Shells, Gail Egbeson

Wild Vision

Wild Vision launched in Summer 2022 and took six unrepresented directors through a similar process to Write Wild.

The training includes holistic, industry training paired given a 'what kind of director do you want to be' style access into the industry, with paid placements, guest speakers, free tickets to plays, access to the WildChild library and a mentor. We will provide travel expenses, coffee cash and any support the director needs

The course will be part online and part in-person and feature across TV and film.

LET Bursary in Association with WildChild

Alongside Olivier-nominated Les Enfants Terribles we fund one individual per year to go to drama school, offering them a cash injection each term to help them pay for their tuition. They also receive an industry mentor (previous have included: Paapa Essiedu, Adelle Leonce, Saffron Coomber, Arinze Kene) and constant support from both WildChild and Les Enfants Terribles.

As part of this scheme we are launching actor headshots in partnership with Michael Lanni photography and a showreel, in partnership with Hat Trick Studios. We have also paid for 10 x sessions of therapy for one of our bursary recipients.

This bursary has supported actors from unrepresented backgrounds to attend RADA, GSA and East 15. Those who have been supported include Caleb Obediah, Troy Marcus-Richards, Francesca Gilbert and Obed Mayamona.

This bursary will launch again in Summer 2022 for Autumn 2022.

I could never have imagined the impact it would have on my career and the extent of support I have received
